Unity3D: The Power of Light Probes!
What are light probes?
They are a group of probes that store baked lighting information and emits that information to dynamic objects.
In other words, in the image above, the yellow lighting spheres are probes. When a dynamic object passes through this information of spheres, it relays back the baked lighting information to the dynamic object. The dynamic object will have accurate lighting depending on the light probe. I hope that I said it in a way that makes sense!
The gif above shows you an example of a dynamic object passing through a light probe group. As you can see, it lights up and darkens when it leaves the probes.
The video above explains and shows how light probes work better than I would! They are so powerful for 3D games.
I hope you’ve had a better understanding of them! Thank you for passing by!
